API Ninjas

DATA · DATA & ANALYTICS

Stock prices, weather, geocoding and hundreds of other reference lookups.

Acts as the person, not as itself

Each user connects their own account. Every call carries both identities — the agent and the person it is acting for — so the agent can never reach past what that individual can already do.

Credentials never touch the agent

Tokens live in the vault and attach server-side at call time. The agent holds a session, not a secret, and revoking access does not mean rotating a key.

Every call on the record

Who asked, which agent acted, which action ran, and the verdict that let it through — one audit trail across every integration, not one per vendor.

What an agent can do

Each action is granted on its own. An agent allowed to read is not thereby allowed to write, and the scope beside each row is what the acting user must have connected for it to run at all.

Requires an API Ninjas Business or Professional plan. Assigns one primary NAICS code to a free-text business description by applying NAICS’s own rules: the primary-activity test, the cross-reference exclusions, and establishment scope. Classification is powered by a language model tuned for this task and constrained to the official Census index, so it is fast and never returns a code outside the published taxonomy. The deciding rule and the official index term that matched are both returned, so the classification can be justified during an audit. via GET /v1/naicsclassify

api
apininjas_get_v1_naicsriskREAD

Requires an API Ninjas Business or Professional plan. Returns an industry-level KYB and underwriting risk profile for a NAICS code. This describes an industry, never a specific business. It is API Ninjas analysis derived from public FinCEN and FFIEC guidance and published card-network restricted-business lists, and it is not a compliance determination or a consumer report. via GET /v1/naicsrisk

api

api
apininjas_get_v1_nutritionREAD

Items without a specified amount default to a 100g serving. api
apininjas_get_v1_salestaxnexusREAD

Requires a paid API Ninjas plan. Returns US sales tax economic nexus thresholds, and optionally determines whether a seller has crossed them. Call it with no sales figures to use it as a reference lookup of each state's rules, or supply your sales figures to get a determination. Omit state to evaluate all 50 states and DC in a single request. Every nexus or no_nexus answer is provable from the figures you supply. Where your inputs cannot settle the question, the endpoint returns indeterminate together with a required_input array naming exactly which parameter would resolve it, rather than guessing. This matters because states measure different quantities: taxable sales are a subset of retail sales, which are a subset of gross sales, so Florida (which measures taxable sales) and Michigan (which measures gross sales including exempt ones) can reach opposite conclusions on the same seller. This endpoint evaluates economic nexus only . Physical presence — inventory, employees, offices, contractors, trade shows — can create nexus at any sales volume and is not considered. It is reference data, not tax advice. This endpoint is available to premium subscribers only. Requests on the free tier return an error. All parameters are optional. With none set, the endpoint returns the threshold rules for every jurisdiction. via GET /v1/salestaxnexus

Sort by percent of float, percent of outstanding, days to cover, two-week change, dollar notional short or the two-year percentile, and narrow by sector, exchange, price or size. Because short percent of float is derived rather than reported, add exclude_capped_float=true and max_float_price_gap_days=7 to restrict a ranking to floats that were actually measured. via GET /v1/shortinterestscreener

api
apininjas_get_v1_shortvolumeREAD

Daily Reg SHO short sale volume — the portion of a day's off-exchange volume flagged as short sales. Updated every trading day, so it moves between the bi-weekly short interest readings. This is not short interest, and not a percent of total market volume. FINRA covers only trades reported to its Trade Reporting Facilities, roughly 35–52% of consolidated volume.
